Circus Party!

WOW!
talk about posting this late.. ha. her birthday was in april.
it was just one of those posts that i was dreading because i had so many pictures to sift through
and i still ended with a ton.
i never get all the pictures that i want being as i was hosting and trying to get everything together while also taking pictures - so this is the best i took!

why are my family & friends so awesome? :)

the glitter on that "5" was awesome, but i'm STILL finding it in my house and in my window sill.

table centerpiece (minus the flowers)
ticket vase.
pictures on every birthday.

made this bunting with scraps leftover from the hats

my cotton candy!
it looked so cute.
until it sat out for about 15-20 mins.
and then it melted.
so if you do this - WAIT- until right before you serve it.

this is a real popper that i found on amazon.
but we used microwave popcorn and then shoved it inside for looks!
used clear packing tape to cover the hole.

these turned out awesome!
found these cute bags at a little store in Jacksonville, Oregon
and got the others on etsy.

most of the kids had fun trying this out!
i have a ton of pictures of the kids doing this!
and the dress up photo booth that we had next to it!

cut out - photo booth - ball toss

this was the hit of the party!
darts + balloons

can knockout!

our ticket booth!
& noisemakers
rowan loved handing out the tickets.
but she became conflicted when she wanted to start playing the games and didn't know what to do.
my cousin saw her being distraught and told her to go play at her own party!
haha... i thought it was cute - being as she was so excited to actually use the booth that she thought she was playing in there too!

these bags took forever to punch for the peanuts. but worth it. they turned out cute.
even though we had pounds & pounds of peanuts leftover.
apparently someone thought there would be an elephant at the party

the only pic i got of the hot dogs & tator tots with spread.
it turned out awesome.
and i had a great group of assemblers who made it possible to serve hot food!

kids pie eating contest! that was the cutest part of the party for me.
i loved watching their faces and reactions.
some kids just dug in, others were apprehensive, some tried it and didn't like getting messy.
it was hilarious!

and of course this was a hit.
pie throwing.
my husband is such a great dad.
willing to have pies thrown at him for her party. i love it.

she nailed it.

adult pie contest.
same goes for this as the kids.
some were apprehensive, some didn't want to get dirty, and some dug right in.

birthday girl & cake

the lion piƱata.
which we almost forgot to do!

this party turned out amazing. i couldn't have asked for a better time.
other than the melted cotton candy i think it was a blast! and i think that most people had a fantastic time. especially the birthday girl. who ended up playing Merida from Brave for most of her party.
even though she had a super cute circus shirt on... she wanted to be a princess.
it's her party, she can change if she wants to.
ha.

Rowan's Birthday

my girl, my baby girl, yeah she turned 5.
and she thinks she's pretty cool.

which she is.. so i guess its ok. :)

cake for breakfast.
literally cake. cooked like a pancake.

she loved it.
but no one could eat that much sugar for breakfast.
we all started out with bellyaches.

this was the day before her birthday after school, where she got her crown that she LOVED.
{as seen in pictures above}

went to the mall... she got her ears pierced.
she was awesome.
she cried. and then she cried because she was crying.
she said she didn't think it would hurt that much.
but she got some makeup from claire's afterwards, so she was thrilled.

went to forever 21... to buy some new earrings.. oh yeah.
popped in here.
went to h&m so she could pick out a brand new outfit.
she said that she was a big girl now that she was buying her owns clothes.
pssshh.

ok for reals, check out that top photo. the girl has got some beautiful looks.

and we of course ended the day at Chuck E. Cheese.

Welcome to Candyland!

Did you bring your sweet tooth?

We had such an amazing time at our daughter's 4th birthday party! I love putting together parties and I only wish that I could have made more of my ideas (with the help of Pinterest, of course) come to life.

but none-the-less we all had a great time, especially the birthday girl!

Welcome to Candyland!
I loved this entrance! I thought that it was so fun to decorate the front of the house. To be able to give all the party guests a a great big welcome of candyland!

I got the idea of the entrance to use the posterboard walkway and the balloons with cellophane from a Parents magazine that I read forever ago. Super cute.

This is the candy display I made. I had been working on it for.ev.er.
I had some other ideas planned, like hanging the characters from the candy associated with them. Like Princess Frostine to Sno Drops and Jolly to the Dots.
but no time.

I also made these awesome cupcakes. bubblegum and cotton candy.
uber sweet, but super delicious.

Have I mentioned that my husband is amazing? He built this fabulous lemonade stand for our daughter while he was home on r&r. he's amazing.
and i got to use it for the party. perfecto.

I saw these super cute pompoms on Pinterest and just knew that I had to make them for her party.
It was so easy and I will definitely be making them again for another party sometime.
I'm not going to lie.. they are still hanging in my dining room. Even though the party was over a week ago.
must take them down. they're just too cute.
I also made the bunting. our of burlap. easy peasy.

Again, my husband is amazing. while he was in afghanistan he asked the lady who makes the maps if she could blow up some candyland images.
and she did. on her own time. SOOO nice. I love it when people are nice.
and the hubby carried them in a cardboard tube all the way home. did i mention that he was traveling from afghanistan and it takes a week! i know. amazing.
so we played pin the lollipop on lolly.

we cut out some crown strips from brown paper bags and some of the kiddos made crowns.
they turned out so cute!

rainbow bowling.
idea from pinterest.

my cake.
i decided last minute to make a cake to look like the board game.
i had been debating what i was going to do for her cake being as she wanted a cake and cupcakes because that's what i did for her party last year.
i know. expectations. geez.
people tell me i do it to myself.

don't mind the craziness.
i took this picture after the party was over.
i realized i had forgotten to take a picture of my trees and flowers.
i felt i needed to because i spent so much time on them.
so i had my gumball tree and my lollipop tree.
and the gumball flowers of course.

birthday girl.
she thinks she's pretty cool now that's a big 4 year old and all.

we also had a pinata and did a licorice game. super fun party. would do it over again in a second.
happy birthday to my baby girl, miss rowan!
